Spring Crops Yield Better with Micros
Early-drilled crops, that didn’t receive seedbed phosphate (P), will get a boost from foliar applied P. Particularly useful for increasing the root system on a spring crop – we need it to establish roots as quickly as possible in case of dry spring conditions. YaraVita Crop Boost supplies foliar-P as well as K, Zn and Mg. For later drilled crops, YaraVita Mantrac Pro would be the product of choice to supply a high concentration of manganese, up to 8 times more than a typical chelated alternative.
Once the crop heads towards stem extension, coinciding with the T1 fungicide timing, it is another opportunity to apply other key nutrients required for spring cereals. There are several nutrients that are important at this timing, including magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc. Yara’s cereal crop-specific micronutrient product, YaraVita Gramitrel, is a great product to apply at this timing as it contains all those key nutrients that are required for grain number/ear and overall grain quality all in one formulation. This is applicable for both early or later drilled crops and typically we see a consistent 0.3t/ha yield advantage in field trials.
Making sure you keep your spring crops deficiency-free will mean they can work at their optimum by reducing yield limiting factors, particularly when we might be limited other inputs this season.
