Safety for all

Fertilizers are made from naturally occurring raw materials containing nutrients. Yara follows stringent standards when sourcing raw materials to ensure they are of the highest quality and to avoid contaminants. Likewise, Yara’s industrial products are made to satisfy the customers’ stringent quality and health, safety and environment requirements.

Labeling on Yara products provides concise and relevant information for safe and correct handling of the product. In addition, Yara’s Product Classification and Regulation Department prepares and regularly updates safety data sheets for every product.

Yara carries out extensive work to ascertain the best and safest way to transport, store and apply fertilizers and industrial products. Transport operators are monitored by Yara staff to ensure they comply with all regulations and have established emergency plans. A tracking system is in place to improve reliability and respond to a need for tight security when transporting goods.

Together with other producers, Yara has established an industry code for storage of fertilizer and industrial products. Based on industry-wide best practice, the code aims to prevent risk of accidents and theft at Yara’s own warehouses, at rented storage sites and at customers’ sites.
