Nitcal

Nitrates for concrete admixtures.

Concrete admixtures

Concrete admixtures are materials other than cement, aggregate and water that are added to concrete either before or during its mixing to alter its properties, such as workability, curing temperature range, set time or color. Accelerators shorten the set time of concrete, allowing a cold-weather pour, early removal of forms, early surface finishing, and in some cases, early load application

Concrete Accelerator

Yara has developed NitCal, a chloride-free set-accelerator nitrate-based product sold to concrete admixture companies all over the world. It is widely used in formulations of chloride-free set-accelerating admixtures, especially needed in winter and cold weather conditions.

Typically 0.5 percent - 1.0 percent of Yara’s NitCal (of cement weight) is added when concrete admixture companies are making different set accelerators. The product is sold in a liquid or a solid form.

NitCal has been used in many major construction projects around the world, including the new Opera House in Oslo.
