Yara has been producing nitrogen chemicals for over 100 years. This chemistry is based on using gas or oil and as source of hydrogen and its reaction with nitrogen in the air to produce ammonia. Ammonia is then used to produce a range of chemicals which have applications in agriculture and industry. Nitrogen chemicals are primarily used as a raw material for other chemicals. Yara provides its nitrogen chemicals to the chemical, healthcare, animal feed, dairy, wood, pharmaceutical, steel, space and yeast industries.
Ammonia, is applied in its anhydrous form as a compressed liquid. The most common strength is 25%.
Nitric acid, concentrations of up to 68 percent can be produced by conventional distillations. Production of more concentrated nitric acid is possible by special techniques.
Technical Grade Urea, prilled urea destined for the technical industrial market.
