Ammonia is produced at several Yara sites by the direct combination of hydrogen and nitrogen in the presences of a catalyst. Ammonia in its pure anhydrous form is a colourless gas with a pungent odour.
Ammonia is supplied in its anhydrous form as a compressed liquid and as a solution in water, known as Aqueous Ammonia. The most common strength is 25% w/w.
For the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, this includes: Amines that are based on ammonia, are an important organic intermediate in the healthcare industry. They are used in the production of cosmetics and drugs.
Ammonia has applications throughout the industrial and fine chemical industries. Some examples include: iron and steel manufacturing, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals and bio-ethanol production
